COMMUNITY councillors honoured Royal Burgh Standard Bearer Guy Blair with the presentation of a photo frame in the Town Hall last Thursday. It was handed over by council chairman Bob Kerr.
Guests at the function included Standard Bearers and representatives from the Casting organisations.

It was only six nights earlier that Guy had been in the same historic room for his appointment by the Common Riding Trust.

He reflected: “What a huge honour that was for me and my family.

“It is great to see the other Standard Bearers joining us tonight and I congratulate them all.

“I am sure we are all going to have a great time sharing each others company over the next few months.”

And he thanked the community council for its gift and chairman Bob for his kind words.

On Friday night Guy and his Attendants travelled to see 19-year-old Scott Roy installed as Melrosian.

The burgh was also represented at Wednesday night’s appointment of 22-year-old Ben Graham as Hawick Cornet.
