FRIGHTENED Rabbit will hop down the Tweed this summer to headline Scotland's newest music festival at Kelso Racecourse, writes Kenny Paterson.
Rock at the Racecourse will feature the Selkirk band alongside four other acts on Saturday, August 29.

The live music event will be Frightened Rabbit’s first performance in the Borders since the release of their second album Midnight Organ Fight.

Formed by Souter brothers Scott and Grant Hutchison, the folk indie band are currently working on new material for their next album which is due to be released next year.

They are to tour North America later this month before returning to Scotland for gigs at Edinburgh’s Queen’s Hall as well as Kelso.

Frightened Rabbit will be joined by Hawick band Scocha, Lost in Audio from Edinburgh, Dumfries and Galloway-based The Dangleberries and Schtumm at the event.

Organiser Lesley Wilkinson said: “Rock at the Racecourse is an exciting new music event coming to the Scottish Borders and a chance to see some of Scotland’s most exciting up-and-coming bands in an outdoor venue.

“There really is something for everyone with five fantastic bands performing at Kelso Racecourse.

“This is the first time visitors have had the opportunity to attend a live music event at the racecourse and whether you are there to rock with the bands, enjoy the summer weather or make a night of it in the campsite you’re sure to enjoy the inaugural Rock at the Racecourse.”

Richard Landale of Kelso Racecourse said: “We are delighted to host Rock at the Racecourse.

“One of our main aims is to encourage local people to make use of the racecourse outwith race days and events such as Rock at the Racecourse make a valuable contribution to the continued success of the venue.”

Tickets are available now from www.rockattheracecourse.co.uk
