HOT on the dancin' footsteps of Selkirk Opera's smash hits Oklahoma, Guys And Dolls and this year's Singin' In The Rain comes Crazy For You.
This energetic show, with its winning combination of Broadway Dancing Girls and deadbeat Cowboys, should tick all the boxes for fans of the local amateur society.

Crazy For You, with songs and music by George and Ira Gershwin, is the story of ric
h banker's son Bobby Child who would like nothing better than to be a Broadway dancer. After failing another audition, Bobby is sent on business out West to Deadrock, Nevada, to foreclose a rundown theatre.

Word gets out to the townsfolk that a banker is coming to shut down the only entertainment in town, so, to avoid being shot, Bobby pretends to be theatre impresario Mr Zangler and persuades the good folk of Deadrock to put on a show in the theatre to stave off bankruptcy.

Then, in the way of all great musicals, romance intervenes in the shape of Polly Baker who falls in love with Bobby in his impersonation of Zangler. This is fine until the real Mr Zangler turns up, then things get really complicated!

Enrolment night for Selkirk Amateur Operatic Society is on Tuesday at 7.30pm in the High School music department. A warm welcome awaits returning members and new talent. No experience is necessary, just the desire and commitment to put on a fantastic show in the company of like-minded enthusiasts.
