Local youngster Daniel Turnbull clutches one of the elusive haggis caught at the Royal Burgh's annual Great Selkirk Haggis Hunt on Sunday.
The fourth event of its kind to mark the birth of Robert Burns, it attracted an all-aged assortment of around 150 enthusiasts to the now-familiar haggis breeding grounds of Selkirk Hill.
The driech weather and snow-swathed terrain made hunting difficult, but they still managed to scoop a record haul of 21 haggis, mostly taken with traditional baggy nets, cricket bats and claymores.
Hunters and followers were led to the hill by piper Colin Turnbull and entertained by the Riddell Fiddles at the hunting lodge (The Hut), where a freshly slaughtered haggis was consumed by local VIPs and toasted by the hoi polloi.
