Colin proves he's got the clout by hitting the target thrice in Scottish tournament

A Selkirk archer scooped one of the top prizes at the Scottish Clout Championships at Culzean Castle in Ayrshire on Saturday.
Colin Cairney was awarded the Little Quaich for scoring three clouts – the highest number achieved during the 72-arrow competition – and also went on to win a shoot-off between those who scored most best ends.
Colin was one of seven members of the Ettrick Forest Archers to travel to the National Trust country park for the annual British Longbow Society (Scotland) event.
Club secretary Lindsay Neil, who also scored a clout, said: "Conditions were difficult. Initially the rain tipped down and the swirling wind made aiming a trial, but the conditions improved by the afternoon when most of the scoring was done.
"The best results were obtained by aiming for the wrong target and letting the wind carry the arrows to the right one."
Armed with the group's new gonfalon – a specially-commissioned banner designed by club members – and dressed in their distinctive club colours, the Borderers performed well in the contest against experienced archers from all over the country.
For those interested in getting involved, the Ettrick Forest Archers run 'come-and-try' sessions at Philiphaugh every Wednesday.
