A TALENTED line-up of speakers looks like ensuring Selkirk RFC's 2008 dinner on May 17 is going to be another five-star affair.
Former Scotland and British Lions No.8 John Beattie will propose the toast to The Game. The West of Scotland coach won plenty of friends at Philiphaugh last month following his side's defeat at the hands of Selkirk, when he congratulated the home side on beating the league leaders fair and square.

The toast to The Club will be given by local author and Borders Book Festival director Alastair Moffat, with 1st XV skipper Neil Darling replying. Coach Rodney Pow will toast The Guests, with the reply coming from Bill Rutherford of Galashiels, one-time caddie to Ryder Cup captain Sam Torrance.

The vote of thanks will be in the capable hands of senior vice-president Donald Macleod, while president George Thomson will chair the dinner. The Selkirk Grace will be said by life member Jim Inglis.

Tickets are priced £20, and can be purchased from organiser Bill Jackson or from behind the Philiphaugh Suite bar.
