MORE than 250 schoolchildren descended on Philiphaugh last week for what proved to be a highly successful event.
All primary schools in the town and the surrounding area was represented at Selkirk RFC's Primary School Touch Rugby Festival.

Development officer Ciaran Beattie praised the many individuals who went along to help.

He said: "The idea behind the festival was first and foremost for all the boys and girls to enjoy the experience. It was also a good opportunity to promote the strong mini-rugby section we have at the club and during the afternoon several parents told me they'd be bringing their children along to the Sunday training sessions."

These take place at Philiphaugh from 10-11am. Next Sunday, the Rhinos will be taking part in Jed-Forest Rugby Club's annual tournament at Riverside Park.

Rhinos secretary Karen Beveridge would like to remind all parents that every mini-rugby player must be officially registered with Selkirk Rugby Club, otherwise they are not insured to play.
