Former Scotland international Graham Marshall officially stepped down as coach of Selkirk Youth Club this week.
His time in charge of the youth team was recognised at the club's annual dinner on Saturday where his last duties included presenting the trophies and where he himself was honoured by youth club president George Lyall.

At the dinner, fellow teacher Tim Cove proposed the toast to Selkirk Rugby Youth Club, with the reply coming from retiring captain Andrew Renwick.

Long-serving committee member and former Selkirk player Gordon Hunter toasted Rugby Football Union, reflecting on the value of club rugby and strong links with schools.

He also congratulated Selkirk Rugby Club president George Thomson and the senior team on their success this season, which included promotion to Premier One and winning the Kings of the Sevens tournament for the second year in a row.

Replying, Mr Thomson commented on how proud he was of the players and staff at the club.

Gordon Inglis proposed a vote of thanks. Next season's Selkirk Youth Club captain was named as Darren Clapperton, while Keiron Reid will take on the vice-captaincy.

The Wat Henderson Memorial Quaich for the most improved player in his first year was awarded to Ally Turnbull, while Peter Forrest was recognised for his achievements in being picked for the Scotland Under-17 squad.

This year's Royal Burgh Standard Bearer, former player and coach Guy Blair, was presented with a special tankard.
