SELKIRK archer Adair Anderson has his name etched in history as the first Borderer for 333 years to pin a medal to the historic Silver Arrow.
In a ceremony at the old Courthouse on Tuesday evening, Adair, who is a member of both the Ettrick Forest Archers and the Royal Company of Archers, watched as his medal – which will permanently adorn the arrow – was pinned on by Lady Strang Steel.

Adair, who lives in Ravensheugh with his wife Patience, won the clout competition back in June, by hitting a 30-inch target from a distance of 'six score' or 180 yards, using a longbow – the only weapon of choice for the Ettrick Forest Archers.

Ettrick Forest Archers' Wednesday evening sessions are now finished because of the nights drawing in.

However, Sunday afternoons at Thirladean, Philiphaugh, are still very much a part of the club's calendar. New members are always made welcome.
