ONLY a week after winning round three of the NPS downhill series, Selkirk's Arran Gannicott has lifted the Scottish Youth Championships.
A new track at Glencoe Ski centre was the venue for the one-off event to decide who would be Scottish champion.

Large cambers of slab and granite, steep rock shoots and tight twists through the heather saw many riders come off but the local downhill daredevil stuck to his guns, and his bike, to win the youth section in style from second-placed Mark Scott, with Innerleithen’s Lewis Buchanan in third. Arran’s time was the fifth fastest time of the day in all categories.

The previous week the Selkirk High School pupil kept up the pressure in the National Points Series with an outstanding third-round victory. Round four will be held at Ae Forest, Dumfries and Galloway, on Saturday August 16.
