Big Brother's blues

SELKIRK'S Gannicott brothers were both back in action again last weekend at the third round of the SDA Downhill mountain bike series.

Held in the historic Hermitage Forest Park, near Dunkeld, brothers Arran and George competed on a track which winds its way down from an open steep rocky hilltop into some of the oldest and tallest Douglas fir and European Larch trees in the country.

Saturday’s practice was held in glorious sunny conditions with not too many serious incidents and Sunday dawned to sunshine yet again as riders converged at the top of the track.

Young I-Cycles rider George took the juvenile class win, with Sam Herd in second place and Drew Carters in third.

But, while his young brother found his winning form, Gannicott the elder, Arran, had to settle for second place behind the flying James Scott in the junior class, with Ronan Taylor in third.
