Deer readers

readers of The Wee Paper are being invited to break out their finest tweed fancy dress, decorate themselves in body paint, and join charity organisation Venture Trust for the wettest, muddiest and most cheek-achingly-fun adventure they’ll have this year.

Venture Trust – a Scottish charity supporting young people – has secured discounted entry places in the Mighty Deerstalker on March 17. The event, held at Traquair House, is a fell-running, obstacle-hurdling, tweed-wearing mud-fest, and one of Scotland’s craziest (and most fun) outdoor events. Places for the 5km run are available through Venture Trust at a discounted price of £21, and places in the 10km race are just £27.

In addition, the team is asking runners to commit to raising £100 to support the charity and help young Scots from difficult and disadvantaged backgrounds to make positive changes in their lives, and to get closer to employment, education and training.

Kathryn Welch, of the trust, said: “We would love people from Selkirk to get involved in the local challenge event and raise money for a great cause into the bargain. It’s also a fantastic way to get motivated towards those New Year’s resolutions, and to shift the post-Christmas pounds.”

More details about the event can be found on Venture Trust’s website. Runners can enter by getting in touch with Kathryn Welch on Kathryn@venturetrust.org.uk
