Elaine shows she's got Celtic clout

ETTRICK Forest Archers (EFA) enjoyed success last weekend when they headed north for a two-day shoot-out.

On Saturday the group joined archers from all over Scotland and Ireland at Gardrum House, Fenwick to compete for the Ailsa Trophy. The following day action moved on to Cluzean Castle County Park for the Celtic Nations Clout Meeting where Selkirk shooter Elaine Pearson claimed the Bronze award in the Ladies Double Clout first round while fellow Souter Jim Stillie did likewise in the gents’ second round.

Back at Thirladean, Selkirk archer Frank Brown achieved his first 180yd clout during the club’s best arrow, as did EFA member Joyce Quilietti in the 120yd ladies’ clout.

Mens result: Doug Anderson, 10 best arrows; Colin Cairney 6; Frank Brown 3 including 1 clout; Jim Craig 3; Robin Huggan 2 including 1 clout.
