Warning of frosty reception

IF IT wasn’t stressful enough having to prepare to meet Premier League kingpins Spartans in an Image Printers Cup third round clash, then the great Scottish weather has to go and make it worse.

Last week’s match was postponed due to the hard frost covering Yarrow Park and, at the time of writing, things don’t look much better for this week.

Selkirk FC vice-chaiman Ross Anderson told The Wee Paper: “At the moment (Thursday lunchtime) it’s rock-solid down there so it’s a 50/50 chance that the game will be called off.

“If we get a wee bit sun for the next couple of days that should help, but it’s really in the lap of the gods.”

If the game goes ahead, the Souters will be without Jason Inglis and Euan Pritchard.

The senior team aren’t the only ones desperate to get a game tomorrow.

Having put the start of their league season on hold, Selkirk’s newly-established under-19s side have arranged a friendly against Abbotsford Albion at Yarrow Park for 12.30pm.
