GENTS
IN LAST Saturday's Centenary Cup competition sponsored by the club captain Jim Farrell, Gordon Inglis sprang back into form with a bouncy round of 70 (6) 64 to win the trophy by two strokes. Best of the 66s was Mid the Kid.
Results: 1, G. Inglis 64; 2, E. Middlemas 66; 3, I. Clark 66; 4, S. Hislop 66; 5, N. Beaumont 67.
In the twos sweep, eight golfers displayed the remarkable skills necessary to hole out in two at the nominated holes, the 7th and the 18th: N. Beaumont , G. Gill, D. A. Heard jnr, S. Hislop, C. Marshall, M. McVie, L. Millar and N.W. Purves.
The good weather last week has drawn good crowds to the Hill to watch the club championships unfold. The final on Saturday will feature the winners between the Callum Marshall and Michael McVie clash and that between Donald Ballantyne and Mickey Robertson.
All the finals – the A, B and C class, the ladies and the juniors – will be played tomorrow, starting at noon.
LADIES
THE ladies welcomed their new president, June Robertson, to the club on Thursday evening to present the awards in the President’s Prize.
Despite a very strong wind, scoring was excellent. Martine Pow took the honours in the Silver handicap with an amazing 66 (+1) 67.
The Bronze handicap winner was Anne Allan who produced one of her best rounds with a superb 91 (23) 68. Diane Cassidy shot a 79 to win the scratch prize.
After a lovely supper, June presented the prize-winners with beautiful Gleneagles glass vase.
The proceeds from the entry money, along with a donation from the ladies, was made to June’s chosen charity, Children First.
