Golf

UNABLE to play at Selkirk because of the wintry ground conditions on the course, seven intrepid Winter Woolies stalwarts headed south to The Woll on Saturday to play an impromptu stableford.

Alan Brown, Norman Roxburgh, Les Rutherford, Mitch Thomson, Andrew Webster, Tom Welsh and Ian Wilkie played some good, bad and ugly golf and, as befitted the Oscars weekend, there was more hurt in the locker room when the scores were added up.

Alan Brown came out top with a score of 35 stableford points, followed closely by Les Rutherford (34) and Mitch Thomson (33). All the others scored above 30.

A Winter Woolies competition is scheduled for tomorrow.
