Magic Masons

THEY think it's all over - and it certainly is now.

Last Friday night the Selkirk Bowling Club Pub League came to a dramatic, if somewhat predictable, conclusion when the Masons scooped the prize for the third consecutive year. And in doing so triumphed over arch enemies the Fleece for the first time in the tournament's history.

Masons team member Donnie McLeod, who gave his bowling arm a well-earned rest on Friday but went along to witness the victory, told The Wee Paper: "We always play The Fleece last and have never beaten them until this year. To win all seven games is tremendous, a great team effort from all."

Alternatively painful in its predictability was the winning of the booby prize by the hapless hacks from the Southern Reporter. Never have a pack of miniatures been so gratefully received.

Week seven results: The Southern 7 Ex Standard Bearers 20; Town Arms 9 Tory Club 12; Merchant Company 9 Babychams 16; Fleece 14 Masons 15.
