All news is good news for hockey star Emily

LOCAL hockey player Emily Newlands may just be thinking all her Christmases have came at once over the last couple of weeks.

The Selkirk High School pupil played her first game for the Scotland under-21 ladies’ indoor team at the Grove Menzies Hill invitational Tournament.

The team won two games, lost one and drew one, taking third place overall.

And, last week, Emily received the news that she has been invited to train with the senior women’s squad for January and February as part of her own development in hockey.

Good news indeed, for the 16-year-old who is also studying for four Highers.
