Douglas duo ready for Pitreavie

EIGHT speedy Souters are making the journey to Dunfermline on Sunday to take part in the inaugural Pitreavie Gift meeting.

Father and son Craig and Iain Douglas are both entered for the main event of the day, the Pitreavie Gift 100m sprint, and the 200m, while Craig, 55, has also entered the veterans’ 90m.

Douglas senior was fourth in the vets’ race at Musselburgh at the new year and is looking to go one better on Sunday.

He told The Wee Paper: “The handicapping hasn’t gone too well for either me or Iain, but we will go up and give it go. If I could take a third spot in any of the races I would be chuffed.

“It’s good having Iain in the races, too. I just try and keep on his heels most of the time.”

The event, which has attracted well over 100 entries from the Borders, is being held on the tartan track at the Pitreavie Sports Complex.

Selkirk marks: 100m sprint: Geoff Keen 9m; Colin Bruce 8m; Craig Douglas 19.5m; Craig Bruce 10.5m; Marc Cockburn 9.5m; Iain Douglas 7m.
