FATHER and son shooting duo Eric and Darren Brown are aiming to put Selkirk on the map when they travel to Dortmund, Germany, next month to compete in the 29th ISAS International event.
Local speed cop Eric will take part in the men’s competition for the PSUK (Police Service UK) team, while Darren competes in the juniors under Selkirk High School.
This is the first time a Selkirk Rifle Club junior has shot in an international competition abroad.
Eric and Darren have been warming up nicely for the event. Brown senior lifted the club’s monthly medal and Tinline Cup with perfect scores of 100 in each event, while his son clinched the junior medal.
The McDougall Cup was won by Peter Noble.
A number of club members attended the Watsonians open shoot. Keith Nixon was first in the B class, Bill Vaughan came third in the veterans’ section and Darren Brown headed the under-15s, with Christian Hackett-Reed third.
