Kerr’s corking run
Kerr Gerrard (2) breaks the tape at St Andrews.
SELKIRK Track and Field runner Kerr Gerrard blazed a trail to victory last weekend when winning the St Andrews Highland Games Youths 200m title.
Back-marker in the event the 15-year-old, coached by David Knox, qualified easily for the final and stormed through the field to win his second title of the year, in as many outings, to follow up his success at Blackford Highland Games in May.
Elsewhere, Geoff Keen (24m) gave an excellent account of himself in winning the 200m handicap at Langholm Common Riding Games.
From the Charlie Affleck Edinburgh-based running school, Keen soared home in the final in a time of 21.82 seconds.
This weekend, the Borders athletics circuit moves into East Lothian for the inaugural meeting at the new Meadowmill Stadium.
