Poetry in motion: Come and Feel the Burns

ORGANISERS of the Philiphaugh Hill Run have decided to go that few steps further in order to thank supporters of their efforts to raise money for a new kids play park in the town.
Feel the Burns, so named because it will take place around the time of the Bard’s birthday, will be run in aid of the Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team and even race co-ordinator Sheila Anderson admits that the challenge could live up to its name.
She told The Wee Paper: “This is a hard course and more for the experienced hill runner as it is 13.7 miles long over tough terrain and steep climbs – a great challenge for the New Year.”
Taking place on January 19, the gruelling route starts and finishes at the Corby Lynn and takes in Peat Law Hill, Three Brethren, Brownknowe Hill and Foulshiels Hill.
Entry is £10 and will include a hot meal back at Selkirk Rugby Club that will take on a Burns Supper theme. All entries should be received by January 17.
Shiela added: “This will be the first year for this run and we hope to get around 50 runners crazy enough to take it on.
“I wanted to thank the Tweed Valley Mountain Rescue Team for supporting our summer Philiphaugh Hill Run by raising funds for them, so it will all be worth it, really.”
