GENTS

IN LAST Saturday’s August Medal Competition, sponsored by N.W. Purves and Son, it was Bill Walton and Bruce Bett, fresh from their cycling tour of Holland, who hoyed their way to the medal positions with rounds of net 67.

Results: 1, W. S. Walton, nett 67; 2, B. Bett 67; 3, W. MacDonald 68; 4, C. Kemp 68.

Twos (holes 9 and 15): J. Cockburn, B. Bett, S. Henderson and W. S. Walton.

The clear winner of this week’s sympathy was Mitch Thomson who might have won a bronze medal, but for a 10, 7 finish.

Next week a big entry is expected for the Captains’ Prizes.

JUNIORS

July Monthly Medal: 1, Struan Legge (44) 55; 2, Matthew Brass (19) 61.

Back To School Medal: 1, Guy Mallin (46) 47; 2, Tom Elliot (35) 57.

This Sunday the juniors play for their August medal, starting at 10.30am. See junior noticeboard for more details.

LADIES

A large turnout took to the Hill to play for the much-coveted Julie Lawrie Trophy last week.

For a pleasant change the weather was kind to the ladies which resulted in some fine scoring, none more so than Martine Pow who proved too strong for the opposition to win the trophy with an excellent 67 (+1) nett 68.

Diane Cassidy took the scratch award with a respectable 78.

Martine was the only one with a two, so got the money as well to round off a fine night.
