Reaction predicted as Selkirk round comes full cycle

the biking bandwagon rolls into Selkirk this weekend for a double dose of cycling spectaculars.

The fourth Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon Series 2010, powered by Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport, takes place on Sunday.

There are four mountain bike courses: mini marathon (25km); half marathon (50km); middle marathon (75km); full marathon (100km).

Each route promises endless miles of single-track, stunning scenery and some of the best trails in the UK - through the Tweed Valley, Ettrick Forest, Elibank and Traquair Forest.

According to event organiser Mike Wilkens: "The round in Selkirk has established itself over the last few years as the most loved and talked about course of the series - and the 2010 round will try once again to go for the crown."

The Selkirk round is unique through its combination of natural trails around the Royal Burgh and the purpose -built tracks of the nearby trail centres.

But there is more than just mountain biking going on. The event also features a CycleOps Power Road Sportive, which will be run tomorrow. Two courses are on offer plus a huge selection of other activities on and off the bike .

Wilkens added: "Prepare to be amazed by tough climbs, fast rolling roads and some breathtaking scenery."

z The CycleOps Power Road Sportive will begin between 8.30-10am tomorrow.

z The Chain Reaction Cycles MTB Marathon ride starts at 10am on Sunday.

z Both events begin from Selkirk Rugby Club.
