New tactic for league restart
HAVING had almost a month away from National League business, Selkirk 1st XV are looking to get their campaign back on track tomorrow when they travel to Laigh Bent to take on Hamilton.
And, having put on a mighty performance against Gala at Netherdale a fortnight ago in a Border League tie, coach Brian Cassidy is looking for his team to show the same kind of commitment for the remainder of the season.
“The National League is out of our hands now, really, but we still want to go out there and put on a good performance.
“We still have the Scottish Cup to play for and if we can keep up that kind of standard there is no reason why we can’t progress through to the quarter-final stages. The last thing we need is for our players to start thinking the season is finished.”
Selkirk are without Darren Clapperton this weekend, but with Fraser Harkness back in form, Cassidy hopes to bring the backs into play and try out some new tactics.
“We need to try and get the ball out wide and take the play to our opponents,” he added.
