EAST RESERVE DIVISION ONE
IT WAS a classic case of so near but yet so far for the Stormers last week as an injury time penalty prevented them recording their fourth consecutive victory.
All Selkirk’s points came in the first half – John Graham and Bob Wilkinson scoring tries, with fly-half Daniel Pringle adding both conversions, as well as a penalty just before the interval, to put Stormers 18-10 ahead at the break.
In the second half, Peebles improved, eventually crossing for their third try of the afternoon , which was converted, to put them just a single point behind the home side.
With Stormers beginning to tire, and replacements Donny Mackenzie and Craig Monks both on the field, Peebles ran out last-gasp winners in the dying seconds thanks to a successful penalty kick.
Selkirk Stormers: R. Henderson; J. Lyall, B. Wilkinson, J. Graham, S. Farrell; D. Pringle, D. Swinbanks; N. Wielbo, S. Rodgerson, C. Fairbairn, S. Maxwell-Smith, F. Tough, W. McClymont, W. McAllister, Robt Cook. Subs: D. Mackenzie, C. Monks.
Tomorrow, the Stormers play Edinburgh Accies Blues at Philiphaugh (2pm).
