Youth Club back in the groove
SELKIRK YOUTH CLUB 11
HAWICK PSA 0
SEMI-JUNIOR LEAGUE
FOLLOWING their recent drought in game time, Selkirk Youth Club got back to winning ways on Saturday with a dogged victory over Hawick PSA. The young Souters started well and took the lead after 10 minutes when a Teries overthrow at alineout was gathered quickly by Andrew Toole and quick ball at the ruck allowed Jordan Lunt to dive over.
The conversion was missed and PSA were camped in the Selkirk 22 for the rest of the half. Great credit to Selkirk for not allowing them over the try line, thanks to a superb and well-disciplined defensive display.
Youth Club restarted brightly and when Calum McEwan was obstructed while chasing his own chip through, the referee lost patience with the PSA winger who had been involved in off-the-ball misdemeanours for most of the game.
Darren Knox slotted the resulting penalty to stretch the lead and another towards the end of the game when some great counter play by the hosts forced Hawick to wander offside in front of the posts.
This weekend Youth Club travel to play Langholm Colts (2.30pm k.o.).
