Dressage, riding test and horse trials teams from Ettrick Forest Riders' Association have qualified for the British Riding Club's National Finals at Aston le Walls in August.

Polnoon Castle Riders' Association ran the dressage qualifiers at Drumcl
og and in horizontal sleet the novice team of Janet McRitchie/Craggy, Helen Bett/Grateley Diva, Sandra Grieve/Beltoy and Lorna Pate/Willow kept going to win both this class and the riding test which is judged on riding ability.

The previous day the open team of Carolyn Gospel/Tout Camelot, Wendy Bell/Taktiform, Rhona Young/Quin Kannan and Jill King/Arnie won their class.

They also carried off several individual awards while Rhona and Wendy won the pairs.

A novice team and two intermediate individuals travelled to Beamish where Area Two and Area One had joined forces to run the horse trials qualifiers.

Carolyn Gospel/Willamy Twinkle and Emma Soeder/Spicey Lady had early starts and, after dressage and clear show jumping, both had hiccups on a stiff cross-country. Carolyn finished fifth in the intermediate class.

The novice team of Cath Cotton/Chino, Sarah Page/Paper Classic, Rhona Young/Quin Kannan and Nina Cessford/Cowdenknowes Tikka won their class and, individually, Rhona came first and Nina took the runner-up slot.
