In last Saturday's stroke competition, club captain Jock Easson was his usual steady self, mastering the windy conditions with a marvellous net 66, pipping Gordon Inglis by virtue of a better inward half.

Not so fortunate in the breeze was Ian Wilkie whose ball blew away when he was about to putt, thus incurring a costly penalty stroke.

Results: 1, J. Easson net 66; 2, G. Inglis 66; 3, M. Wood 67. Twos: G. Inglis at the 15th and Alan Wheelans at the ninth.
