For the grand finale of the 2016/17 season, Music in Peebles are proud to welcome not one, but two excellent, multi-award winning young string quartets.

The Aurea and Gildas Quartets combine in one of the most exciting new collaborations in UK chamber music.

Praised for their ‘refreshing approach’ and ‘exciting precision’ Aurea and Gildas String Quartets combine for an Octet Tour and they will play Strauss String Sextet from ‘Capriccio’, Op.85, Korngold String Sextet in D major, Op.10 and Mendelssohn String Octet in E flat, Op.20.

The Aurea Quartet are a group of musicians living and working in Manchester. As a quartet they are always looking for new ways to perform and explore the wealth of repertoire that is out there.

The Gildas Quartet are fast establishing themselves as one of the most exciting young ensembles to emerge in recent years and as passionate performers of a hugely diverse repertoire.

The quartet are proud to be City Music Foundation Artists 2015 and Junior Fellows at the Birmingham Conservatoire. They have performed to critical acclaim across at major venues including the Purcell Room, Wigmore Hall, and BBC Radio 3.
